The gavel was handed over to me from Regina Hoefner-Notz on May 2 in Nashville Tennessee. My term began at the closing ceremonies of ASPAN’s 38th National Conference.
My first order of business was to finalize the assignments for Committees, Strategic Work Teams, and Liaison positions.
As Vice President/President Elect I had been working on those since February from the Willingness to Participate forms that members had filled out in October.
Several components reached out to me to speak at their State Conferences, so my calendar began to fill up. My weekly social media posts began in earnest with Facebook and an occasional Twitter and Instagram. Leadership Development Institute in Cincinnati OH, planning commenced with the Board of Directors. Policies needed to be reviewed and approved. I have weekly phone meetings with the CEO Kevin Dill and Vice President/President Elect Elizabeth Card.
I took a quick weekend trip to Denver Colorado for the National Conference Strategic Work Team meeting. We stayed at the conference hotel, Gaylord Denver, and met with the conference planners there. They showed us all the meeting room space and the ballroom we will use for Component Night and President Reception. The 39th ASPAN National Conference, April 27-30, is shaping up to be a great one. Put it on your calendar now!
I continue to monitor emails from members, read Clinical Practice Question responses, and oversee the business of ASPAN. It has been a busy two and a half months. I’m loving it and looking out for your best interests and those of ASPAN.
Have a great rest of the summer and take advantage of all the fall conferences.
